Pregnancy After 35
We view pregnancy as an enhanced state of health; however, women of advanced maternal age do have some increased risks, such as:
- Genetically abnormal pregnancies
- Pregnancy loss
- Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, including preeclampsia
- Multiple gestations
- Placental abnormalities
- Gestational diabetes mellitus
- Preterm birth
- Cesarean delivery
You may experience more difficulty becoming pregnant at this age and may be more likely to carry multiples.
